SOAR Rescue is a local foster-based animal rescue and outreach organization working towards creating a no-kill Nashville.
Our mission is to work as a shelter diversion for animals who are facing homelessness, through no fault of their own. Through education, support, outreach and adoption, we aim to relieve the pressures on the over-burdened shelter system and make a positive, long-lasting impact on the animals in Middle Tennessee.
Early on, (2020) the majority of SOAR animals came to us through a partner organization called SAFPAW* (Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare) when their owners could no longer care for them. In 2021-22 we experienced enough growth that we were able to step in and help with animals at Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control. Now, we work with 6 different shelters, many rural, underfunded areas in Middle Tennessee, as well as, assist our local animal control to trap and secure stray or loose animals and get them to safety.
While rescue is a necessary band-aid to the growing overpopulation, we truly feel that education and support will provide lasting results leading to fewer animals dying in our shelters.
