SOARescue is a completely foster based rescue, which means that we don't have a physical shelter. In order for us to accept pets into our program, we need fosters or temporary homes. This means bringing one of our adoptable pets into your home to provide shelter, love and care while they await their happy ever after. We provide supplies, you provide a temporary loving home. The number of animals that we can rescue is limited by the number of foster homes we have; the more foster homes we have, the more animals we can save!
Fostering a pet is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Give it a try, you won't regret it!
The animals that come to SOARescue come from a variety of situations.
All animals are fully vetted prior to being placed in a foster home.
After you have filled out a foster application letting us know about you, your household and your preference in animal, we would have phone conversation and home visit. Then, we will match you with an animal that best fits your lifestyle and needs and vise versa. At that point, you can tell us Yes or No. Once we have agreed on a foster match, we will make arrangements to get the animal to you!
Getting your animal may involve you picking the animal up, the animal being dropped off with you, or you meeting the transporter in a central location to receive the animal. We also provide all the supplies needed during your foster period.
We work around your schedule! Depending on what you want, will determine your commitment. If at any time you need to make an adjustment for any reason, every effort is made to move your foster within 24 hours.
We are in need of all kinds of fosters:
Many fosters animals will need some time to adjust in a new environment. They will need patience and space to decompress. Once you feel the animal coming out of their shell, we ask our foster parents to get to know the animal, take pictures and learn his/her likes and dislikes and report back to their adoption coordinator. The fosters input is crucial in us finding the right long term fit!
During the time the foster animal is with you, we provide support, training advice, daycare outlet if needed and moral support. Some dogs take longer to place into forever homes than others, and it can be very difficult to give up an animal that you have come to love once we do find a permanent home.
As our foster parents have all said, the rewards of fostering outweigh the difficulties. Being able to witness the transformation and seeing them go on to live their best life is one of the biggest rewards!
